I'm assume you mean an Exception to Policy. What do you need the exception for ??

That is correct. I need an exception to policy AR 40-501 Chapter 2 para 13 f... to become an officer.

By the wording of the instruction, sounds pretty cut and dry concerning red/green deficiency. Doesn't say "can or could" be disqualifying, says it "is" disqualifying.
Good luck.

adrbuddy, I call bullshit. You are soooooooooo full of it. Everyone beware this tool of a troll. Doubtful he's in any of the services at all. Likely just some punk that is coming in here to stir up shit.
P.S. adrbuddy, this IS my last response to you

Ha ha McGiver ... Why are you so worried about my questions ? In fact, I am in the military, who would ETS soon, and but got into the OCS Program after serving for 8 years, and who now needs and Exception to policy letter to continue, and finish his OCS training and then maybe commissioning. Just because we disagree with each other ... that doesn't make me a bad human being.

You cannot get an exception. You must be able to distinguish red/green.

But i can distinguish red and green...I just cant pass that farnsworth color vision exam. How are they finding about this now after having a 8 year career in Aviation. Unlike most policies, this one is cut and dry. There is no should or may it says,
However, for entrance into the USMA or Army ROTC or OCS programs, the inability to distinguish and
identify without confusion the color of an object, substance, material, or light that is uniformly colored a vivid red or vivid green is disqualifying.
It is not only distinguishing colors it is substance, materials, or light....
After reading the entire paragraph, you either lied on your application or you bullshitted your way through...
Just becasue you were in aviation field (enlisted) prior to this....does not mean you were required to take a physcial ever year...unless you were on flight status and then it was just depth perseption....not color....or hell, maybe neither depending on who was given your physcial...or again, you lied on your physcial paperwork...
You need to go to your PL and inform him/her, or your just wasteing money, and will be kicked out of OCS.

Dear Chucksnee:
Let me first began,by telling you that i have always being a fan of integrity. I have to tell you, being enlisted for the past 8 years has taught me a lot. I will never , lie or forge anything. I enlisted color blind, went to basic training color blind, graduated from Fort Rucker AIT being color blind, and been in working full time since then at the same Army Aviation Facility from my state with the same color blindness. I started OCS and now that I am ready to become an officer they are coming up with this. I honestly think this is either an equal opportunity issue, they are discriminating due to either my ethnic background (hispanic), or due to the fact I am against some of the military policies which I am getting ready to start revising and change. Becuase the Army needs to change many things. Anyhow .. CHucksnee .. you need the read the regulation again as it is not completely straight forward.. It has some gray areas.
Thanks for your time,

You've stated that you've failed the color vision exam. Now, the reg is very clear: failure is not an automatic disqualification unless the failee cannot distinguish red/green. How they determine your ability to distinguish red/green is up to them. And there is no exception, because it can be absolutely critical to the mission and safety of lives at points that you be able to tell those two colors apart.

I am color blind. I am an Officer. I can see green/red. As long as you pass the Farnsworth lantern you can get commissioned. You WILL be limited on what you can do. You are unable to be an MP/Aviator/FA/MI officer. If you are falling back on the race card, I am stationed at FT Benning,I am going to come over to OCS...it is just down the street from my office and discuss this with the chain of command. If you are BSing...you will have a very nice time as a civilian...don't play that crap here or at OCS! That race card is the card of a loser. Man up if you want to be a Soldier and an Officer.

cobra6, I sincerely believe that adrbuddy is blowing smoke up all our asses. He doesn't sound like an adult or a Soldier from his postings, he can hardly spell and he thinks that grooming standards are a violation of human rights. This whole thing sounds like a ploy to get people riled. Just my humble opinion.

"I honestly think this is either an equal opportunity issue, they are discriminating due to either my ethnic background (hispanic)"
Yea, that's gotta be it. It's gotta be that you're hispanic. Because there are no non-white officers in the Army. They probably went in and rewrote the regs to include a vague condition that could apply to thousands of people, then went around the internet and replaced every single copy of the PDF, just so they could snare you.
"due to the fact I am against some of the military policies which I am getting ready to start revising and change"
Or it's because they're SO scared that a half-literate, probably-not-going-to-ever-be-thank-god second lieutenant in the national guard is really going to mix things up and start rewriting regs.
You never had to take the test before because you didn't need to be red/green to be a joe so they never tested you for it. Your state is a joke so they never gave you a proper physical before you went to OCS, so it's only that now it's coming up. Too bad, so sad.
You suck. You would be the WORST kind of officer -- arrogant, unintelligent, me-first. Thank god you can't see red/green and we are all spared your "service".

MSMUROTC, I fully concur. This guy has "Loser" written all over himself. I highly doubt he's even in the service as he claims. Surely he couldn't have passed the ASVAB with his incredible lack of intelligence. I found a photo of him online:

He could probably pass the test. You can't.
And, you're Hispanic, so there.

Dear DavetheSeaman (sailordave)
Can you please give me some direction in trying to get some of this fix. I have been practicing the color vision exam and I am doing a lot of progress with the office lights off.
