Our command has put out that every month we have to have someone go to the Soldier of the Month board. Can you even force someone to go?

I completely agree that its great training for a Soldier to prepare for the promotion board and believe 100% that if they don't want to go to the SOM board, they are not ready for the promotion board either. Yet if you force them to go, they won't even try that hard. Pretty much all they'll have to do is walk in, blow it, and walk out because they don't care.

So follow the commands guidence and watch the Soldier not care at the board? What do I do? I've googled and also talked to my S-1 about finding an AR on the SOM Board, but have been unsuccessful. Any help and advice would be great.

That is the problem with the Army now. All these kids do is bitch and whine about having to work. Just go to the board, and compete. We have such a bunch of cry babies...I don't want to do this I don't want to do that. My advice...GET OUT of the Army. You signed up now man/woman up and do your duty.
