I just read Gen McChrystal's letter about CIVCAS and I'm wondering what war are we fighting. I understand we need to limit civilian casualties but this is war and mistakes happen and I'm pretty sure we are doing everything possible to limit casualties but all I have been reading from the commnder over there is we need to avoid casualties and apologizing isn't good enough when we do kill innocent civilians. How about apologizing to the families of service members killed because Gen McChrystal would not close a FOB after Battalion and Brigade commanders highly recommended that it be closed and they got punished and careers ruined. The Sec of Defense wants to hold Senior leaders accountable for their actions why isn't the same being done for Gen McChrystal?

Well he doesn't correlate the lives of innocent civilians compared to the lives of volunteered soldiers. But the General is doing his PR piece to win the hearts and minds of the Afghan people.
War is hell; isn't it?

INGUARD,
I totally agree, he is so out of touch with the ones putting their lives on the line everyday. He is more concerned with how he looks in the eyes of the Afghanistan people and that totally incompetent and crooked PM. Hey General how about winning the hearts and minds of the military members that you have been entrusted to care for and take care of? at least General Mckiernan showed he did care for us!

Generals don't have to win the hearts and minds of their troops. The troops have already sworn an oath to obey the officers appointed over them, it's not a democracy.

Isn't this the same man the orchestrated the Pat Tillman cover up and tried to spin it into the hero story?

Yeah; and you also don't sell America's men and women fighting to foreign conutry. It's also an order to protect your fighting men and women ever heard of that:rolleyes:

What's the difference between ... care for ... and take care of?
Aren't they exactly the same?
