Marine charged with tossing kitten against wall

SAN DIEGO — Authorities say a Marine is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after they say he threw a kitten into a wall at a friend’s house last year.

Fernando Pacheco, 27, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in San Diego Superior Court.

Candice Eley of the San Diego Humane Society said the 4-month-old kitten, named Cullen, was brought into an emergency animal hospital in June 2009 with a broken leg, head trauma and a bloody nose.

Cullen’s owners told authorities that Pacheco threw the male kitten 15 feet across their patio after the animal scratched or bit him.

The cat has fully recovered. The family said it paid about $5,000 in veterinary bills.

Well if it were a Pit Bull it would have been put to sleep for biting someone.

Maybe this Marine has anxiety and the scratch startled him and that was his reaction. 5K in bills? Come on, I hope they have reciepts for all that.

They probably won't get it fixed and it will run off only to get hit by a car.

This Marine should really pick his "FRIENDS" better. I mean what the hell. They had to have been the ones that caused this to legal action to happen. Who spends 5K on a cat? They were not even that attached to it, I mean it was 4 months old. Bury it in the back yard and get another one. I don't know what is wrong with people anymore. I mean hurting an animal is cruel and shows maybe this Marine may need a little counseling 'maybe" or maybe he just reacted badly. When did people become less important than an animal.

People are assholes. Animals just react. Its simple. Not saying thats the case here. It is way easier emotionally to kill a person than it is to kill an animal.

No excuse for throwing a cat against a wall and breaking its leg. I mean think about what it take to break a cats leg. Someone threw my animal against a wall they might have a medical bill of their own.

They cant defend themselves people.
