Post Senate OKs spending bill forcing troop pullout

With a vote primarily along party lines, the Senate passed a bill that provides additional monies to pay for the war and sets a tentative deadline of March 31, 2008 to end combat operations. Only a presidential veto can stop this plan.

From the article --

“We stand united in saying loud and clear that when we’ve got a troop in harm’s way, we expect that troop to be fully funded,” Bush said.

“We expect the Congress to be wise about how they spend the people’s money,” he said.

Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the House Defense Appropriations Committee on Thursday that a delay in funding would have a chain reaction that could keep units in Iraq longer than planned.

What do you think of the plan? Tell us your opinion: Is it time to begin scaling back the troop presence in Iraq or should the timetable be left open? Why? Your response may appear in Army Times.

Well, now that both the US House of Representatives and US Senate have voted to provide Mr. Bush with every dollar that he asked for to prosecute the "War on Iraq" I can't see what General Pace has to worry about. The money has been approved and all that Mr. Bush has to do is sign the bill into law.

Of course, I suppose that there is some slim possibility that some immature person will get into a snit because the law wasn't written in the colour of ink that they demanded (or something equally silly) and veto the funds needed to "support the troops" whilst trying to blame the shortage of money on someone else.

But that would never happen.

Right?

As to a schedule, why not? Of course the schedule would have to be more or less realistic and the assets that the Iraqis need to fulfill whatever it is that their "independent and sovereign" government has been ordered to do would have to be provided - otherwise what you would have is simply the Middle Eastern version of "Vietnamization". Wouldn't you?

Pace is a moron yes-man p*ssy.

All the real, competent generals either got out when they saw Bush coming, or were fired by Bush.

Is there any wonder why it's so F-ed up in Iraq?

And yet sadly, Bush will probably give a medal to Pace, just as Bush gave one to Tenet for sleeping through 911.

F-THEM ALL!!!
