Default Escanaba Skipper sacked

I'm retired Navy and I married into the Coast Guard, even joined the USCG Aux(great group of folks).
Anyway....I have been on det many times to Key West and hoisted many a beer at Irish Kevin's. Having said that in all those times I never seen anyone get arrested there and I seen many a civilian and military person beyond drunk. The folks there used to look after all of their drunk customers and made sure they had a buddy or a taxi. I can't imagine what you would have to do to get arrested there. Kevin is a great guy and loves his military customers. You even get a military discount on your beer. He must of had himself a large time.

Post Re: Escanaba Skipper sacked

Coastie skipper, Cmdr. Michael Sabellico, was arrested and reassigned after a brawl at a Key West bar. From the article --

Sabellico and the crew members allegedly were loitering in an alley when the bartender at Irish Kevin’s asked them to leave. They left as requested, but according to the report, Sabellico returned and scuffled with the man. He then left the scene. Sabellico was apprehended later and charged with simple assault.

The Coast Guard is conducting an administrative investigation into the incident. According to Atlantic Area spokesman Lt. Rob Wyman, Sabellico has been reassigned temporarily to the Coast Guard’s 1st District but he remains the Escanba’s commander.
