Is this "supporting our troops", Mr President? Regardless of whether they "need" a 3.5% pay increase, they deserve it. |

Just like Bush and Cheney....cheat the rank and file of the military out of what amounts to $6/month while they enjoy a lavish lifestyle in pampered safety (chickenhawks) and they proffess "support for the troops".

Now I undertstand what "support the troops" means. Somebody in this blogs called me a Bush hater and I thank him, now I have one more reason to hate this administration of liars, greedy bastards and hypocrites. With only the money that the Iraqi government has "disappeared" we could give the troops the raise they deserve, but it seems that doing that would deprive the no-bid contractors, the Halliburtons, and the other partners of this president and his henchmen of their well deserve billions in profits. I bet someone will come up with some excuse for this president and blame the Clintons for another blunder without peer. Can we sink any lower than this? I don't think so. |

If there is some one in the administration that feels that we, the hard working American soldiers, don't need additional pay raises, then maybe they should get from behind their desk and pick up a gun and vest and go stand guards at the entry control points in Iraq. And while there are out there, lets take away their 6 figure income and give them $3.50 per day on top of anywhere from $15-$45K per year. For all that we give to keep our country safe, the administration should at least want to help us eliminate any burden we may have financially. No I'm not saying make us rich and no one who enters the armed services expects to ever be rich but we don't expect to have to take out loans just to put food on the table for our families either. May the people who oppose the pay increase have some type of mental disorder that let's them rationalize pushing down legislation on payday advance loan sharks that take advantage of the military members instead of addressing the issue of why we use them. Maybe if they didn't spend so much time opposing the increase, they could see that the increase will go a lot further in attacking the loan sharks by taking away their customers.

This is america's tragedy in leadership! The hours our troops work to defend this nations national and worlds security, Not to mention lives at risks in a voluntary military. Then there are the families that stay back in foreign states and country's to them trying to raise families with mediocrity pay with all that has to be taken care of is an insult to our nations defenders. We are stealing from them there freedom and then they want to complain about pay raises. This is what will decide elections in the future. The military is underappreciated and treated by leadership as if we have forgotten they do what most in the nation would not even think of. They do what most leadership would say "not my kids, there going to college" Go to history and see what happens to a military that is treated as if they are mandatory and not a freedom's choice. The country will fail!!! History tells the tale. Learn and treat those that stand guard and defend the nations people with love and hope not expectations of riches, with thanks and appreciation. They do not have to do what they are doing !!!! Sadness is here in thoughts of what the nation forgets! Think if the military members quit!!! WHERE WOULD WE BE!!!!

This award is also for the G.I's hurt in combat. Is Bush saying only Congress deserves an increase as well as himself. He figures the G.I. 's only deserve crumbs. Why dosn't he send his daughters over there and see how they do receiving a G.I.s pay. They would have to be sober and drug free because daddy is not paying enough.

What a generous Commander in Chief! Why not redeploy all troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and replace them with Blackwater mercenary troops who are paid more than $100,000 each annually! Save the lives of our National Guard and enlisted troops and replace them with lavishly paid mercenaries who are eager to serve--for the right price! Clearly the Commander in Chief thinks the mercenaries are worth more than the Guard and enlistee personnel.

I agree with the White House that we don’t really need a raise larger than the inflation raise this year. We are spending ourselves into the ground, and need to start putting our greed aside and thinking about the future of our country instead. Those of us who deploy once in a while know that the benefits we receive on top of our base pay and base benefits are more than fair. Most American’s can’t afford health care, and we automatically get the best health care program in the world. Our pay is higher than any military ever in the world, and we are taken care of pretty darn well.
Those of you who are complaining about pay should quit hiding from deployment, and spend a year (or 15 months) contributing to this War on Terror and seeing how people in other parts of the world live. |

I proudly serve this country as a member of the greatest Air Force ever(18 yrs and counting) I value each and everyones opions and the right to complain, argue, discuss anything anytime. I've lived in other countrys and seen there life, but it kicks my butt when we as Americans lower our selfs to bashing our leaders be it our President or our Military leaders; we want to blame anyone and anything for our problems...so lets take step back and look at our selfs shake off the cloak of stupidity and greed start helping our own, because the world will be there tomorrow still scorning and hating us, because we are the greatest most free country in this world. I will gladly give my life for my country either as NCO in the Air Force or as civilian protecting his family, friends and his fellow Americans. So whats this have to do with 3.5 raise simple I get a raise every year with added benefits, but I didn't sign up for pay or college or even medals I signed up to serve and protect...all I ever needed is a hand shake, a salute and a thank you nothing else. There are those who don't want to give even that to us...this is sad. Thanks for listening and may your day be free of worry.
