Ok, there was a request to add a recipe thread. I've already put my granola and banana bread somewhere last night- can't remember that far back anymore. So here they are again.
Granola 4 c old fashion oats 1/2 c shredded coconut 1/2 c pecans, chopped 1/2 c honey 1/4 c raw sunflower seeds 4 Tbs butter, melted 2 tsp orange zest (this is important b/c it makes it "special") 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp cinn 1/4 tsp salt handful of cranberries, raisins (and/or any dried fruit you like- I also add banana chips) **Pre-heat oven to 325 **I combine the honey and butter b/c the heated honey makes it easier to mix. ** In a Lg bowl combine all ingredients EXCEPT the fruit (add it later b/c it will burn in the oven). Spread evenly in a jellyroll pan, bake for 40 minutes; stirring every 10 minutes until it is golden brown. When it is done, put it in a lg bowl to cool and add the fruit. -I add many different nuts- raw are better and unsalted controls the amount of salt. Banana Bread 1/2 c butter 1 c of sugar 2 eggs 3/4 c mashed ripe banana (about 2-3 brown banana's) 1 1/4 c flour 3/4 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt ** Pre-heat oven to 350 **Cream sugar and butter- light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beat well. Add the banana. In a sep bowl, combine the dry ingredients (stir it or sift it so it's evenly mixed). Add the dry to the wet and pour into a greased/floured bread pan. I sprinkle chopped pecans on the top to make it look pretty!!! Bake for 40-60 minutes (like I said before the bake time always changes- don't know why ) Cool and EAT!!ENJOY ![]()

BROWNIES By FAR the best if you are into fudgey gooey chocolate madness!!!
1 cup butter 4 oz. Unsweetened choc.(melted) OR USE ¾ cup cocoa powder & ¼ cup veg. Oil (I use this, its faster!) 2 cups sugar 4 eggs 1 1/3 cups flour 2 tsp. Vanilla ½ tsp. Salt MELT BUTTER and then add the choc. And then the sugar! ADD THE EGGS WHILE BEATING & MAKE SURE THE MIXTURE ISN’T TOO HOT SO IT DOESN’T COOK THE EGGS! Add all the other ingredients and the flour last. PUT in a 9X13 pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 – 25 minutes! COOL & FROST WITH FOLLOWING! OR if you don’t have time to mess with frosting you can put some chocolate chips on the brownie dough before you bake them! FROSTING FOR FAVORITE BROWNIES IN A 9 x 13 PAN OR FOR A CAKE IN A 9x 13 PAN 6 TBLS. Butter 6 TBLS. Milk 1 ½ cups sugar PUT THESE INGREDIENTS IN A SAUCEPAN AND WHEN IT COMES TO A BOIL STIR FOR JUST ONE MINUTE - TAKE OFF BURNER AND POUR ½ CUP OF SEMI SWEET CHOC. CHIPS Use a mixer to blend ingredients together in the saucepan...frost immediately because it sets up FAST! |

Totally Easy Nachos:
This is really easy and makes the best Nachos. Brown ground beef with taco seasoning, as you would if you were making tacos. In a large roasting pan or lasagna pan (something deep) line the bottom with a layer of Nacho Cheese Doritos, then a layer of Salsa (what ever kind you like) then a layer of the taco meat, then a layer of shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese (my fav is Cracker Barrel), add whatever you like on your nachos, repeat the layering until you fill up the pan. Bake at 350 for about 1/2 hour or until all the cheese is melted. While its baking, mix a pint of sour cream with a package of Hidden Valley Ranch dry salad dressing mix. Put in the fridge until nachos are done. I cut the Nachos into squares to serve (similar to lasagna) use the Ranch/Sour Cream as your dipping sauce....OMG. It rocks. Its good with chicken too ![]()

I made this for my "future" sister in law (unofficial..but pretty sure it's gonna happen) for Christmas. My bro said she loves Chai Tea so I found this recipe online and I tried it..never having tried Chai Tea before and it was REALLY GOOD!!! So..here's the instant Chai Tea mix!
Chai Tea Latte INGREDIENTS • 1 cup -nonfat dry milk powder • 1 cup - powdered non-dairy creamer • 1 cup -French vanilla flavored powdered non-dairy creamer or Sugar Free • 2 1/2 cups -white sugar or Splenda • 1 1/2 cups -unsweetened instant tea • 2 teaspoons -ground ginger • 2 teaspoons -ground cinnamon • 1 teaspoon -ground cloves or less, very powerful taste • 1 teaspoon -ground cardamom-(optional, very spendy) DIRECTIONS 1. In a large bowl, combine milk powder, non-dairy creamer, vanilla flavored creamer, sugar, and instant tea. Stir in ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. In a blender or food processor, blend 1 cup at a time, until mixture is the consistency of fine powder. 2. To serve: Stir 2-3 level tablespoons Chai Tea mixture into a mug of hot water. *Using sugar free ingredients reduces calories. Sugar Free mix-10 calories per tablespoon. Regular mix-30 calories per tablespoon. -You can spice it up even further by adding 1 teaspoon nutmeg and allspice, and 1/4 teaspoon white pepper. |

SUPER EASY Artichoke Dip!
1 can of Artichoke hearts, diced 1 cup mayo 1 cup parm cheese, the sprinkled kind Mix together Bake at 350 for about an hour, until top is golden brown, don't preheat oven Serve with tortilla chips! This is the best dip, and so easy to make. I swear by it, and have found that it tastes better with Duke's Mayo....only Southern people know about Duke's, I think it's only sold in the South. But whatever you like's good too! Enjoy!

Just FYI, there's an entire category on this board for recipes:
http://www.militarytimes.com/forum/f...play.php?f=107 It's called Cooking: Recipes, tips and more. I posted my recipe for the best ribs in the world there back in May, and no one's posted a recipe since. Were they scared off by my awesome ribs? ![]()
