Default Black Boots with ABUs?

Haven't read that article yet, but I saw it in the bottom on the home page. I'd imagine its for career fields that mess up their green suedes alot. Another color for the rainbow air force or function over form? You decide.

Default Black boots for CE, maintenaners etc

Front page of the new AF Times. Think we're hearing the death knell for the green boots?

Haven't read the article yet... but it would seem to me that if the tan boots have been good to go for the desert for this long, under similar conditions, it would be pretty hard to use the same reasoning to get rid of the green boots. I guess the deployed appearance versus in garrison look could swing the tide...

I think the green boots were a HUGE waste of time & effort... and there are gonna be a lot of p.o.'ed businesses who dumped their supply of black boots to crank out green ones... and now are going to have to trash all of them. Sure, we don't make decisions to please them... but you can bet we'll eat the cost of the change when we have to buy boots.

Interesting as the door gets ready to close on the old CSAF that a decision like this would make damn sense.

I sent Alice a PM, I hope she can post this up for us to read.

I am located pretty far from an Air Force base right now, so, not too easy to pop out and pick up a copy of the AF times, and I would like to read this.

Do yall think they will just go with black boots for good?

The Navy went with Black boots with the option of suede or shiny. I like that idea, not to mention then I do not have to go and buy stinking green socks. (so ugly, and way too thick for comfort.) Thanks for making us aware of this Smeghead.

Appartently you've never seen hydraulic or engine troops boots after they got done working. Being supply I had to get them new boots every two weeks. It became a health hazard, the boots would just keep all the fluid and there was no way to get them clean.

The article also went on to say the the black boots would only be for at work on the flightline and not any where else. Basically if you left your work area you had to switch back to the green boots.

Personally I love wearing black boots. If you polish them everynight it only takes five minutes of up keep. You could polish them while sitting on the toilet if you needed to.

....of course, each commander will get to define "work area" and "flightline". You'll have all kinds of boot cops running around getting in you sh!t for not changing at the right time...

Just like downrange, where you have Chiefs assigned to enforce the sock rules with PT gear.

Warrior Airmen indeed.

Now, you know if we don't have the proper length socks and our PT shirts tucked in we will lose the war....

If you don't tuck in your PT shirt, the terrorists have already won.
