the ACB is awarded for simpily finishing AIT. But IAW AR 600-106, the ACB also can be awarded to anyone acting as a gunner, observer, or medical aid person that flew 15 combat misions or was injuried during a combat mission as long as they were on flight status. this is another of the Army's wrongdoings. why? because Special Forces and and other operators are routinly put in these duties for aerial sniping, countless observeation reasons, and as a medic during Combat Search And Resque (CSAR) operations. but these same operators are seldom put on flight status if ever and therefore are not allow to recieve the ACB. they simply do the job (the same job as the guys with the ACB) and then they move on namelessly to the next mission. i believe that it's time to open the doors to allow the Special Operators like MSG Shuggart and Gordon (both Delta airel snipers and CMOH winners) a simple badge that they and many other operator earned time and time agian.
striker guys now get CIBs, everyone gets the new combat badge, ranger school is open to most MOSs. why can't men flying combat missions in the required duties get the ACB?
