What would you change in the barracks?

what wouldn't you change? I think a more modern approach is not only appealing, but deserved.

i dont want to go overboard and say, give us 1 man rooms...but no more than 2 per max. We lived 3 and 4 deep ( Sgt's and below) in Lejeune.

I would like to see a hotel room feeling. Air that works. Head shared by 2 instead of 6 to 8. So on and so forth.

What would be amazing, would be carpeting. I realize that at certain stations carpeting would be difficult do to the humidity, however, barracks would be great with carpeting. I realize that buffing the deck may forever and always lay in the depths of some marines hearts as a favorite past time. However, it's actually amazing to think that we are still doing this, when it would be so much easier to vacuum up a section of carpet every morning outside your room, eliminating morning cleanup. Secondly, supplementation. Oddly enough it seems the clean live with the dirty and are forced to live with the infestation that arrives with their presence. My room has roach traps in every corner, multiple under the sink and I have gassed the room twice. However, amazingly enough they still manage to show their faces. It would be amazing if barracks could provide some sort of spray or even an exterminator once in a while to stop this.
