Hello all,

I recently joined the Navy Reserves (NPS) and I am leaving in September for boot camp and than 'A' class in Dam Neck, VA. Anyone know how this IS training is in Dam Neck? Also, does anyone know of any IS Reservists' being deployed lately? I have been trying to calm my wife about me being deployed, but with all this reading I have seen on the internet and on the navy reserve website about intelligence specialists, I am a bit concerned. Any help would be great and thanks for your time. I am not all that worried about being deployed. I think that most of my worries are that some the IS people I have come across on the internet are deployed with special ops teams and I was not aware of the IS job being 'in the line of fire' ?? I was under the impression that the IS job was either shore based or ship bound ???

There are a lot of IS deployments and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. They're considered a HD/LD type of skill, meaning high demand low density. Not to scare you or anything, just be prepared. As far as ISs deploying with SOCOM units, the ones I've heard have been working with interrogators inside the wire, not tramping around in the sticks. Depends on what the demands are for intel people, I guess.
