I was following with interest the whole new Blue service uniform thing and they were supposed to be in MCCS stores this quarter, but I haven't heard whether that's happened or if they've announced an "It's OK to wear it" date. I do know the Army COS wore the new Gray class B shirt to some event.

I think the uniform is Good, but the B version looks st00pid. With the dark blue pants generals wear it's OK but with the lt blue pants, no.

I am in the Army Honor Guard and i wear the dress blues uniform on a regualar basis in my opinion they look better than the current class A uniform, I mean come on a green suit seriously, The version of the dress blues that we wear in the honor guard are all wool and very uncomfortable but the blues that others wear (they are sold in the Clothing and Sales store on FT. Myer in VA) are made out of the same materials as the current class A uniform. If the army is going to change from the class A's to dress blues i would suggest that they keep the White dress shirt like the honor guard we arent the air force and its not that much work to keep them clean. they should also make it so that the gold stripe down the legs are only worn by Sgts and above. Officers should have a stripe matching the color of their branch down the center of the gold stripe.
The only problem i have with all of this is that we currently have more important things to fund than a uniform change.

Oh man...when will this madness stop? First that idiot Shinsecki plopped Iraqi looking Black beanies on every swinging Richards head in the Army, taking away an elite piece of Ranger history -and now? They want to merge our dress and Gala uniforms? SOMEONE has to find out how many of these fools at "Puzzle Palace" (Pentagon) level are drinking from contaminated water sources! Look at the current laughable Boondoggle with the RIDICULOUS looking ACU! Velcro everywhere, no sew on skill badges Pin on black metal badges are simply retarded looking!) NO ONE LOOKS GOOD IN THEM! NO ONE!!!Look at us poor Aviators! They took away our Flight suit, and Sand color two-piece uniforms...and gave us what? A poorly fitting, wears out too fast POS Pseudo Nomex uniform that costs a fortune, lasts barely 6 months, are hot, which ALSO has no provisions for Pilot/Crewmember insignia (all taken care of quite nicely by the Green flt suit and 2 Pc. Desert sets of old) and (ta-da...!) For which there exists NO FLIGHT JACKET! Hello! Cold weather? Ft Drum? Germany? Alaska? MAN O MAN! This gets me going even more than seeing rappers and Wrestlers as actors in Hollywood! WHERE does it all end? these cretins come up with these crazy uniform changes, yet, not ONCE have I ever been asked personally! Not ONCE in over 20 years, have I seen a "poll", by the people that actually WEAR the stuff! And then the Blues/Greens controversy....if Blues are the new Greens (Groan...) then gone are: Ovals (for us paratroopers) , Jump boots, Maroon Berets, unit insignia....ad nauseum!
LEAVE THE DRESS GREENS ALONE! If they are hellbent on updating it, then add a belt like the WW2 Pinks and Greens, issue the "Bus Drivers" cap (Visor hat), and ditch for once and for all the silly looking Black beanie! NO ONE likes it! Only "Legs" and wanna-be's like it! (and finally...) LEAVE THE DRESS BLUES ALONE! Its the O-N-L-Y Nice US Army uniform left that has any panache and style, and the very last one with any hint of History at all!! Aggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!! SAVE ME!

My biggest issue with the dress blue uniform is the likelyhood that the jump boots, a proud tradition of the paratrooper brotherhood (yeah, ok, the ladies, too) will meet their demise here. This is totally unacceptable and should be fought by every paratrooper at every level. There is nothing wrong with the greens, in my opinion, if anything, lets go back to the WWII style greens.

Further, I agree with DesertSnake on his views towards the ACU and the black beret.

Berets have always been something that is earned, not issued. When I went through the Ranger Indoctrination Program in 2001, shortly after Shinseki "awarded" the beret to all service members, there were a lot of pissed off Rangers running around Fort Benning. The saddest part is that Shinseki himself is a Ranger; guess he had to leave behind a policy of some sort, however ridiculous it may be.

Skill badges pinned on the ACUs do look terrible and out of place. I have seen badges embroidered onto an ACU background available for purchase on eBay, all it takes, I guess, is someone ballsy enough to have them sewn or velcroed onto their uniform and parade around in front of some brass to get it noticed.

The beret is probably something the Sgt of the Army "ordered" the chief to do...

I am still "Up in the air" on this change. We sat in the day room this afternoon and looked at the pics and read the message, and the Officers and Enlisted all had a look of "ewww".

I don't like the White Shirt. Perhaps a light blue shirt would be better, but then the Air Force may have problems with that.

I also think no boots with with the ASU. IMHO.

I just became a member of the Air Force JROTC!!! Sorry but I am not feeling these changes!!! Just like the ACU; this one has been gaffed up!! They were going with a grey shirt instead and didnt. Also, they should of returned to placing enlisted ranks on the sleeves. I guess Christmas came early with these designs. Look at all those acroutments!! Nice Fruit Salad!! If they werent bringing back the Pink and Greens and going back to our Civil War roots then they should have done it right. Should of just kept the Greens then if it was coming to this. Bloused trouses on the Dress Blues doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy (just to appease the Airborne Guys); and I know since I have my Class As trousers bloused when I was with the 101st. Oh well; retirement in 2014.

I'm sure most of you know this, but I just thought I'd share for anyone else reading who doesn't...
I was talking about these w/my boyfriend and complaining about how weird it is to have the jackets and pants to be two diff. colors and got myself in a lot of trouble lol. Turns out back in the cavalry days, they used to take the coat off to go to battle, so the pants would get worn while the jacket wouldn't, causing it to fade much faster, so this uniform serves a kind of tribute to that!

Stilll think it's prettty ugly lol.
