Yes; base pay is taxed, but allowances aren't.

On Base Housing? Do you pay anything for it?

Nope, there is no charge for on-base housing.
Here's a link to a site that has a pretty good breakdown of pay and allowances, including a section on tax advantages: Defense Link - Miltary Pay (http://www.defenselink.mil/militarypay/pay/)

One Last question....Is there anything against working with 2 recruiters one from one service and the other from a different service? I have been working with one service and they have taken a really long time to get anything done and get me in so I'm looking at the other branch and seeing how fast they can get things done for me.

Nope, there's nothing at all wrong with shopping around to find which service will be the best fit for you.
