To whom it may concern,
I am young "Hard-charger" in a secluded unit called Camp Mujuk stationed in South Korea. My stay here in this god foresaken wasteland has been filled with fun and excitement but overendulged with punishment and never ending "skeletons" coming out of the closets of fellow service members, with ranks ranging from mosquito wings to numerous stripes up, rockers down with cross rifles in the center. You may be wondering "What type of foul play or fishy antics does this person speak of?", and that answer is only for the ones who are willing to find out. I for one believe that it would make fine headlines of an issue of the Times or at least an excert on some page that looks a little bare.

...you think you're the only one who's ever done shady shit in a foreign country? Dude... everybody's done it, and nobody talks about it. You are not unique.

Guard duty and mess duty sucks...you will be ok. You get paid the 15th and the 1st. It will be ok...I've been to Korea, it was nice, but I don't want to live there.

You're an idiot...shut your face hard charger unless you have some constructive way to rectify the problems you're talking about. Nobody cares that you saw PFC Motivator drink underage.

Nobody admits it, but the MC is a shady organization in garrison. You'll get used to it. Or you won't, and you will be "that guy." Your call.
And hey, at least you are getting the Korea medal from the sounds of it. I know lots of guys who they shipped out on the 28th day to stop them from getting it. Look on the bright side.

You actually think the MARINE CORPS would do that just to stop a few Marines from getting a RIBBON?
You actually think the MARINE CORPS would do that just to stop a few Marines from getting a RIBBON?
my guess would be it had something to do with saving money, not denying people a ribbon lol. or it could just work out best for the rotation that way.

There are a lot of shady Marines, and a lot of shady places. My best advice is dont be a part of it, and ignore it unless it is directly putting you in danger or harms way. Dont be the rat, and dont play devils advocate either. The less you know the better off you are. I have been through numerous CID investigations due to certain people in the command, and because I didnt partake, or participate in the gossip, I was OK.
Stop now before your to late.

When it's time to go, it's time to go. To actually think that someone in the Marine Corps would say, "hey, let's pull (insert unit here) out of Korea so they don't get RIBBONS, HURRY HURRY" is complete BULLS#!T.
Now, if this dude can prove to me that this happened, I will apologize and buy him lunch and give him my own ribbon.

I don't have to prove a damn thing to you, Allen. I've known multiple Marines who have been to Korea, put on a float 28th day, and went back a few days later. And I remember because they specifically mentioned how they were gipped out of the ribbon.

I got my card swipped in Kuwait on my way home from Iraq on sept 30th at 2100 and I didn't leave Kuwait until 0300 on Nov 1st and this was all done so we didn't get combat pay for the whole month of November. Whether it's done for pay or done for a ribbon, it's bullshit. I know a few Marines that have gone to Korea for 29 days and thats it, not a day more.

...and I have seen an Admiral steer an entire battlegroup across a "line" in the water at 0200 just to pull one more month tax free for every one.

And planes land in Djibouti for a day so they can get tax free etc etc without the major risks.

Sure you do, you run your damn mouth on a message board...PROVE IT. Since you can't, just simply say you heard a rumor and roll out. Another thing, no need for the tough guy act.
These are the types of things that get out of hand and start rumors. I'll just say, since you "heard" this happen, that I personally have never seen, heard or been a part of anything like that.
Cool?

Cool. I wouldn't mention it if this wasn't something I have heard from multiple Marines, who do not know each other, at multiple duty stations. Have I seen it happen first hand? No, but I've never been to Fallujah and I believe the Marines there when they tell me what they did. (For the most part  )
Not to mention, look above. There are plenty of instances where the green weenie strikes without logic or apparent purpose.

Man...I haven't heard anyone use the Green Weenie in a long time. LOL.

dude it was not for the ribbon, it is for the extra money that would have to be spent by uncle sam had they been on deck for that full month.
what does the MC gain by denying you a ribbon? nothing.
what does it lose by denying you a ribbon? morale, lower retention, etc.
as an institution, the MC could care less what ribbons you have - they only exist to boost your morale and unit cohesion. its a pat on the back that costs daddy nothing.
(this does not apply to certain ribbons and medals, etc, obviously)

snitch...
you know what they say "snitches get stiches"
shut your mouth guy before you get your ass hurt while in a foreign country by your fellow Marines.
I'm only trying to warn you that you're not thinking of those dogs getting backed into a corner and what they might do to get away.
this is not a threat.
