I wanted to start something just to get some opinions. Can anyone give me their thoughts as to whether or not they think the MSM has hindered or helped the Soldiers do their job during conflicts? I am a firm believer that if we were to keep the MSM on the sidelines and let our military do its job, Iraq would have taken a turn for the better long ago. I know that the American people have a right to know what is going on abroad, but in most cases they could be held in the dark until after it is all over. Geraldo put our troops in danger because he is an idiot and I get that, but there are others who have done close to the same, so why do we let this happen. Why do we take the chance to put our troops in danger in order to support the MSM?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

The call needs to be made at the military unit level whenever the media wants to tag along. The mission must come first.

At the start of both the Afghanistan War and Iraq War it was the policy of the Bush Administration to embed reporters in the military to report on the success of the wars. Considering the fact that both countries weren't up to the level of a third rate military power it would automatically make the military and the Bush Administration look good. Now that we're having problems in Afghanistan and are still bogged down in Iraq trying keep the peace they're not so interested in having the media reporting what's going on.
