BAH info

It has been almost 2 yrs after my divorce, and I am paying $663 for support as an E5 for 1 child I dont pay allimony, and part of this is that my BAH was added to my Basepay. Funny thing is because of this I HAD TO GET BAH to obligate. I was told by many former divorced personel in civ and military, that my BAH should not have been Added... Is this true?

I am newly married and cannot go into housing because i will loose my BAH and will then have to fork out the extra money.

any help advice will be much appreciated. all 3 Legal Depts in the closest 3 commands cannot help me becauz my ex got to them 1st.

Not necessarily true. You BAH should normally be used...it's part of what you get paid.

I don't understand this...you still have to live somewhere. Either rent off-base or live on-base, it should normally come out about the same...unless you are inadequately housing yourself off-base

What "extra money" are you talking about? If you live off-base you use your BAH to pay rent/utilities.

My advice would be to pay your child support...you can try to hire a lawyer, go back to court to get it reduced...but you'll probably spend more on attorney's fees than you'll save in child support.

Unless of course, you get along really well with your ex- and can convince her that the support should be lowered...and simply hire a lawyer to draft your agreement for a couple hundred bucks.
