where did you get that info about only one MOS being available for prior service? The army wants to add some 30,000 more, if a recruiter told you that then you need to go and talk to another recruiter. There is no rule stating that you have to enlist with a recruiter in your area. The big issue about what jobs will be available for you will depend mainly on your ASVAB and GT score,> I know that the air force has a select limited MOS's for prior service and the army might but it will definately be more than one if they do.

I have called other recruiters and they all are saying the samething from what they are telling me those 30,000 extra soldiers will be soldiers that are in the DEP. My GT score is a 110 so that's not the problem I even asked the recruiters at goarmy.com still for E4 in below only option is 11X.

I am assuming you mean E-4 AND below? You need to keep in mind that right now the Army isn't haveing a huge problem rolling their #s. Now THEY are the ones with the leverage-they have something you want. Often with prior service the problem isn't manning as much as it is rank. They need the Non-priors to keep filling the Jr Enlisted ranks. When an NCO leaves, they promote someone to fill their slot. If they have another NCO that wants back in, then there is a logistics issue-where do you put them if you already promoted to fill their slot? Should you punish the next round of promotees by taking away a slot so the guy that bailed can get back in? Doesn't seem to be the case in your situation if you meant you are an E-4 or below but... this is a good time to try though because your best shot will be in Oc/tNov/Dec....

Yeah I was kinda waiting until Oct too see if anything changes my recruiter told me to come back around mid-month so thats what I will do. In the case of nothing changing and I take the 3 year enlistment as 11x how long do I have to wait before I can change to another MOS?.

In the army, it all depends, like on the unit and stuff and just how much support yuo can get from leaders because in order to change your MOS, either you have to reenlist for it or you must get a waiver from your unit basicly releasing you from that postion and all. You say that they are only offering you 11x and the reason why I say that is strange is, although your are an junior enlisted catergory, like what the ringjamesa was aaying, there is a little harder issue per se except that I have seen 2 cases where 2 NCO's who were prior service got back in and they were not soo limited. One was a prior service Navy, yet he was allowed in the army as an E-5, this guy came from the navy so he knows nothing about the breaucratic style of leadership for the army other than what he learned in his AIT.

Personaly, I'd say to try maybe the national guard or army reserves, yea thier pay is not that of active duty but it may be easier. The army is raising thier standards but that don't mean they are pretty well off, they are assuming that with the downturn of this econmy they will have a easier time with recruits and thus meeting their goals which in one sense they have had easier time with enlistments, but there is still a "stop loss which is the backdoor draft or the army's way of adding to their numbers without having to spend soo much. I am not a 11X so can't help you too much there except to say if that is really what you are not wanting to do then you need to really think hard before taking an opening slot for that MOS. Just don't come in when you get the chance and think that changing your MOS will be soo easy because it won't be,
