Ok, just to give everybody some info on me. I am a Corporal in the Marine Corps, served 2 Combat tours in Iraq, getting out and wanting to go to the Army. I talked to the recruiter and he said the only jobs that are availible to Prior Service is the Combat Arms specialty. I am wanting to get some advice because I am trying to decide to either go and be a Tank Crewman, or Infantry. I am a Radio Tech (25C) by trade in the Marines. But I have been with a Infantry unit for almost 3 years, and have done everything they have. So please give me some pointers. I am also wondering when do you see what duty station do you ask for?

I don't have experience going from USMC to Army but I don't believe what your recruiter told you.

If you want to keep your rank or something, maybe you would have to go combat arms, but there is no reason why you can't enlist in the Army in Signal.

You should not have to go to basic either (I am pretty sure USMC -> Army doesn't have to), but you will probably have to go to AIT, Advanced Individual Training, but even then you might get an accelerated one depending on what your MOS was in the USMC and what you want it to be in the Army and what the overlap will be. Bottom line up front - go get another recruiter because this guy is not giving you good info.

I don't know how much say enlisted soldiers get in where they get posted, if at all. I don't think any. I think you get a say when you re-enlist.
