I need a medical waiver for High blood pressure, I was DQ'ed from meps for it. I got it checked 3 days in a row and gave my recruiter the results but they were still fairly high. But my question is If I am denied the waiver how long do I have to wait before I can submit a new one or what happens next? I would ask my recruiter but he does not seem to be to sure about the waivers.

Usually with HBP pressure if the MEPS CMO (Chief Medical Officer) dont want to make a decision on it they would send it to the service Surgeon General...Im a AF recruiter and for us it takes usually 6 weeks so we can know the SG final decision. In the AF if you are DQ by the surgeon general then you are not allowed to join until youe medical issue has been resolved.

Ok thanks, Idk If I will be DQ'ed or not my BP floated around 150-160/75- 88 so its fairly high. But im sure with proper lifesyle changes I could get this # down. How long does it usually take before you hear anything back from meps about it and are the waivers pretty easy to obtain? Thanks again.

From the MEPS it shouldnt take more than 72 hours after you submit necessary documentation

It depends on who disapproved your waiver. Normally, the Meps Doc will not sign off on readings that high, so it might of got disapproved by the surgeon general. If that is the case it is a six month wait before you can submit another waiver. My suggestion is to start a better diet and start exercising.

IMHO, if you can get your BP back WNL and then go back to MEPS, they can probably clear you with no waiver required. You may need a couple of months but it is worth a shot. Basically, if you haven't been on meds for it and you can eliminate the problem, i wouldn't think it would be something that would require a waiver...I could be wrong but that is what I would shoot for. If you need a waiver that means something is wrong. If you make the problem disappear and you weren't actually diagnosed with HBP....just had a few high readings....=NP...
