I'm a prior service (USMC) veteran of Vietnam now in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. In the course of organizing my ribbons, I've run into a question. While in the Marines, I received 20 Strike/Flight Air Medals and two Single Mission Air Medals (combat). Back then, they were displayed with the numeral 20 and two small bronze stars for Marines. My question is, how are my Air Medals displayed under current Army regulations? My searching through various online Army uniform regulations documents has not clarified this. I have been told informally that I should use the numeral 20, a V for the first combat single mission award, and a gold star to indicate a second combat award. Can anyone both answer this and cite me the appropriate reference? Thanks for any help.
And, if you've done the math, yes, I'm 61.
