Post Pat Tillman: A cover-up?

The Tillman's have received the findings on their son's death, but do not accept them. Based on accounts from those that were there, friendly fire was the issue not enemy fire as the Army initially said.

From the article --

Pat Tillman’s family firmly rejected the Defense Department’s findings into the former NFL star’s friendly-fire death in Afghanistan, calling for congressional investigations into what they see as broad malfeasance and a cover-up.

The men who shot Tillman have always claimed the April 22, 2004, incident was a terrible mistake in the fog of war, and the Army officially agreed Monday, declining to press charges.

But possible punishments still hang over several high-ranking officers who allegedly botched the investigations and key administrative tasks.

Four generals and five other officers in Cpl. Pat Tillman’s chain of command were responsible for “a series of mistakes” in reporting his friendly fire death, and their actions will be reviewed by a top Army officer, officials announced Monday.

However, an investigation by Army Criminal Investigation Command found that Tillman’s death was an accident, and there was no evidence of negligent homicide or aggravated assault.

Do I think that Mr. Tillman's death was an accident? Damn right I do.

Do I think that the facts were covered up? Damn right I do.

Do I think that the soldier who actually shot Mr. Tillman has anything to be ashamed of? Not a chance.

Do I think that the officers who covered up what actually happened have anything to be ashamed of? Damn right I do.

Do I think that anything serious is going to happen to the officers who covered up what actually happened? That depends on whether or not the incident gets any publicity. If the incident doesn't get any publicity, then nothing is going to happen to them. If the incident gets publicity, then something is going to happen to them.

Oh, wait, the incident has already received quite a bit of publicity. In that case my advice is "Hey Guys, start packing your 'I love me.' walls because you aren't going to be needing them pretty soon.".
