Like my actual job. A national guardsman runs a real risk of losing their stateside job. We have more roots dug in because we dont move around. Family is more used to us being home. Its tough moving from civilian life to full time military life just like that. Normally the FRGs arent anywhere near as polished either.

As I recall, your job is protected by federal law unless you volunteer to deploy. There are good and bad sides to both ARC and AD.

I'm confused. Men and women are returning from deployments and are being greeted and thanked by strangers rather than being spat on and we're COMPLAINING? Did I miss something? My guy came through Bangor, is AD and as far as I know there were folks greeting them.

The OP does that to us on a regular basis.

Bummer. It seems like are much bigger things to be worried about than this.

As far as USERRA, you are technically correct, but the act is far from ironclad. There are so many loopholes that an employer can use to get past it. Especially in states like VA that are right-to-work states. Most employers shy away from trying to weasle past USERRA because of patriotism or fear of any bad press that a returning reservist/guardsmen could rally.

Thanksfor the correction, ringjamesa. I was getting my info from Guard guys I've been deployed with. I haven't bothered to research it because it doesn't affect me.
caliny--I must say I've never redeployed through a civilian airfield. I've always flown back to my home base. |

That works for the AirGuard and any air asset Army types. The rest have to be shuttled.
