Rather a rosy take on the events as reported don't you think?

I think that the 29th AF/CC has fired everyone he held responsible for the collection of things that have happened... The articles gave no information that both Wings were at fault. That you guys are under the microscope underscores the atmosphere in the AF at this particular time. The personnel in the Wing(s) should realize more than ever that mistakes and lapses in judgment are a REALLY bad thing in the Nuclear Enterprise.

If ANYBODY should be doing it right - Minot should! I do agree that the Wing-king is "Taking one for the team"... The "Team" let him (and the USAF) down... Again. The "Shit Happens" attitude if prevalent across the entire Wing may be part of the problem.

He was fired. He is not "taking a job" he has decided to accept a move in lieu if retirement. What point does that prove?

Well I believe if they trully lost confidence in him, he would be retiring by suggestion. I guess ultimately
I am just still pissed off that they fired good Commanders. What I mean by "shit happens" is like saying a base fixed the DUI problem. People make individual stupid decisions. Every base goes through ups and downs, but they don't fire everyone during the bad times. I wish all 3 that were moved, all the best.

or a pilot forgetting one critical item on a checklist resulting in a mishap "shit happens ya know"

Sarcasm and dry humor do not get picked up on easily on a forum...

Good for him!

Too bad that your post contained neither of those. I'm sure that was you honest assessment of the way things were being run up there.

headline should've said "Ousted Minot Commander Won't Immediately Retire". I'm sure within a year he'll be putting his papers in. It's not like he has any hope of making BG.

Most Colonel's have no hope of making BGen.

Perhaps he'll continue to serve until...well, it's a good time for him and his family to retire.

I don't know the man...but, I don't think this should alter his life plans too much...he's no doubt given a lot to the AF and country.
