Default ABU and AF Uniform Board Still a Joke

We were told the ABU was a garrison uniform when they were testing it and we all knew it was a lie.

Then they add hints of BLUE in the final version for "Heraldry" purposes? No shoulder pockets like we needed- but we do have a highly non-usable ankle pocket for our tactical blackberries so we can text the Generals about our next decoration package.

All these desk rangers at the Air Force Uniform Board should be immediately removed from their positions and replaced with Battlefield Airmen, SERE, EOD, Security Forces, and Aircrew personnel. Men and women who are field trained and have been there and know how a crappy camo scheme made from inferior materials can and will get airmen killed in combat.

I am SO ashamed of the US Air Force when I wear this absolute joke of a "Battle Uniform".

You do know that in the AOR its mostly flight suits and Army ACU's that get worn right? (outside the wire)

Now we FINALLY are getting the fire resistant ABU's that have reason for being in a combat zone

Um, go look up the word garrison and then rewrite your thread.

Dude, this has been said a million times - and we all know the ABU sucks! So does the precious flight suits and ACUs that Michaep loves. Yes, there is no need for a gray uniform downrange, the BDU and DCU cammies were perfect - got it!

Downrange I found my ACUs to be much cooler than the ABUs, with much more usable pockets while wearing armor. They were also fire retardent, and given that I'm not a huge fan of burning to death, that was a big plus. They were also relatively inexpensive. I found them a million times better than the ABU.

Now, the ACU isn't perfect (the camo pattern isn't the best, as has been mentioned, and I found it to lack durability) but its a heck of a lot better than the ABU. I'd take ACUs over ABUs in a heartbeat any day. I did not have any problems with being mistaken for Army on the FOB (the "USAF" tape helps with that...) and off the FOB I wanted to blend in as much as possible...

I noticed my ACUs were cooler but less comfortable than my ABUs and less durable. I don't like all the velcro.

gar·ri·son (gr-sn)
n.
1. A military post, especially one that is permanently established.
2. The troops stationed at a military post.
tr.v. gar·ri·soned, gar·ri·son·ing, gar·ri·sons
1. To assign (troops) to a military post.
2. To supply (a post) with troops.
3. To occupy as or convert into a military post.

As in the rear with the gear in traditional military speak. NOT outside the wire.

If you want to be a blog troll, get your definitions straight.

When's the last time the Air Force made a good decision regarding uniforms? The ABU sucks, the PT gear sucks, the blues suck. I'm being serious...when is the last time a good call was made? Is there something that can be done?
