Default You have got to be kidding...

While on a detour to McChord AFB today, I noticed that ALL uniformed personnel were wearing reflective belts...the type you might wear while out jogging...but this was in broad daylight in the middle of the day. I just had to ask. One of the airmen stated that it was for safety purposes during an inspection, but did not know any further details. Did some moron "j-walk" in his new tiger-stripe uniform and almost get runover and this is the knee-jerk fallout? I'm curious to hear from someone in the know.

Here at McGuire, an AMC base it is the same during any inspection, ORI etc or exercise: reflective belts on at all times and carrying the Airmans Manual

Go on about your retired or other service business and leave the AF issues to AF folk...

Yeppers. Last inspection I went through we all got new reflective belts and Mechanics gloves so we would all look alike, along with a bunch of other stuff that I couldn't wear on the FL.

It's an ORI/ORE thing. From my understanding its not so much safety as it's to ensure that no one plays the "well I didn't know what the hours of darkness were" card when the IG starts docking points for failure to adhere to safety procedures. It's an easy solution for the Wing King to implement, so they make everyone wear it all the time during the inspection.

So there is a different standard when an inspection team is onboard?
