Thank you MADAMESINCERE, I was not aware that (1) there was extra training to be had, and (2) sometimes people loose a rank or so when switching to the Army.

I know I lost a lot of rank when I switched branches but thats because the Air Force believes it is harder to earn rank in their branch and that the level of responsibility/per/rank is much higher in the Air Force. I say BS! But, my opinion don't matter much, does it. As a Sgt (E-5) in the Corps I had much more responsibility than as an A1C (E-3) in the Air Force, but somehow using their super-duper number crunching aiming high machine, they equated the two, and ***poof*** 3 rockers became 2 stripes

Yeah, but those "bodybuilders" all are monsters and are not like the normal bodybuilders we have here in the services (even though some are big, I have not seen one the size of these professional bodybuilders). They also use supplements to enhance their caloric intake as food is generally not enough even though they eat many meals throughout the day. The reason they do that (eat many meals) is so none of the food they eat goes into their fat stores, but those multiple meals are generally not huge.

The point is too never feel hunger pains and be comfortable throughout the day, or else with these bodybuilders limited body fat, they would also be pulling calories from their muscles when the fat is depleted, thereby hindering what they are trying to accomplish.

But I have to agree with someone who posted the fact that eating 5,000 calories worth of "good" food is no where near the same as eating 5,000 calories worth of fast food as you suggested...unless you want to weigh 300-400 pounds of fat with bad arteries.

Thats my point...

The Marine Corps, nor any of the other services are churning out bodybuilders

My point was that there was both fit and unfit people in all categories of all branches, regardless of the current PT assigned to that branch

An AF vs Corps CFT isnt even close to being a 100 percent Corps win as there will probably be only in shape individuals who want to participate in it. The Corps isnt churning out marathon runners either seeing as how it was a Navy guy and an AF guy who won first and second place if I remember correctly in the Corps Marathon

No problem. Just putting it out there because people from other branches automatically think they are going to keep rank if they switch to the Army, which isn't always true. Marines just don't have to go through training again. I guess I can see why the AF drops people down a rank if you are moving into a more technical job. But the notion their NCOs have more responsibility may be off, IMO. I think NCOs from the Army and USMC are better trained at being leaders/ NCOs. I'd take an Army or Marine E6 over an AF E6anyday. But I'm sure folks in the AF think their NCOs are better too. That's just my opinion though. Going from E5 to E3 had to hurt!

Have to disagree here. Different services place significance on different pay grades. For example, very few E4's in the Army are NCO's, and none are in the AF; while ALL are in the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard; which provides for all E5's in these services to have had previous NCO experience.

Even as an E6 in the Navy, I have no problem acknowledging the fact that as Staff NCO's, the Staff Sergeant of Marines is the E6 with the most responsibility - the kind that doesn't get delegated to those in the other services until they make E7. At E7, the prestige goes to the Navy Chief, and from what I've seen, the prestige goes to the Army First Sergeant at the E8 level (while I was stationed at Ft Sam Houston, it looked to me like First Sergeants were gods).

I've been in 3 years, I'm not a fuck up and I'm still a E-3. My Army counterparts have been in the same time, and same are E-5s. Yeah, I would say the Air Force is justified when it believes it's rank structure is a bit more difficult than the other branches. We don't get stripes just for being shit hot at a board.

It is harder to make rank in the AF, I won't disagree there. You don't get stripes for going to a board, but you do get stripes for passing a hand written test. Neither mean you can lead for shit. The Army promotes fast, but we also have no problem taking rank away either.
