NRTrack2004 and Kenny10 came up with some really good points. To send more troops without establishing clear goals is outright criminal. (I've stated this on the Dereliction of Duty thread). He went to Dover to pay his respects. He can't be there every day and night. There are several ways to honor the fallen. Going to Dover is one of those several ways. Some are saying that he went there for a photo-op. If he were to go there more often those same individuals would say he's going there for more photo-ops. Service members will continue to die in Afghanistan. It's war. Sending more troops will not change that. Having military experience is a bonus but it shouldn't be the only requirement individuals use to elect a candidate for POTUS. For example, Senator McCain has military experience but was a tad bit out of touch with the economy. Obama has no military experience but knew the economy wasn't fundamentally sound. I voted for President Bush due to his military experience. Draw you own conclusions. Our service members will be in Afghanistan for a while. Maybe someone will nominate Ron Paul next go round.

I too wish to commend the President for paying his respects at Dover.

On the issue of the Afghan strategy I think it is wise for him to take time to meet with the experts (military leaders, diplomats, scholars, intel) and determine the best strategy. He has inherited an extremely difficult situation and the best course of action will take some time to determine. I certainly dont envy the decison he has to make.

But Bush's issues do not excuse Obama's inaction. I know why he doesnt have a plan for Afghanistan, because he has been too busy facilitating the made up crisis that we have to have galactic healthcare now or we are doomed, or that we have to implement cap and trade or the world will explode...Afghanistan is not a priority for him except for when the media pressures him on it. Thats why we are getting the "uhhh umm hang on let me think about this one for a second." from the White House.

Piss poor management. Just like Bush...and you voted for change?
Hell no I completely agree, I didn't vote for Obama or Bush

Of course so is LEAVING troops over there without establishing clear cut goals. This should be his REAL priority since people are actually dying in Afghanistan, people here are not dying because of global warming or health insurance. Where are his priorities? With the party and not with the people.

News Flash, everything that Obama has done so far with the economy, McCain would have done...and it STILL would have been the WRONG thing to do.

My conclusion is that maybe your SN should be CaptainObvious101 and not CommonSense101. Voting for someone because of their (extremely limited) military experience doesnt make much sense.

I am sorry, didn't read most of the posts prior to this page, however, wanted to point something out and I hope I am wrong, however, I did not read, hear or listen to one comment from the President Honoring those individuals who lost their lives in the Beirut Bombing. Which the date (Oct 23rd) just came and past with no reference from him whatsoever? To a certain extent, this just floors me, however, I think some things are done with other purposes behind them.

God rest those souls from that Beirut blast......and their families.....

At least his salute is much better. It was really pathetic early on. Some O-5 WH Fellowship lackey musta been assigned to teach him.

NRTrackChamp,
This is not about the helo crash, this IS about the following:
http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news...upport_110209w

Marines needing support and DENIED it. ROE's that get us killed. And above all else it is about a POTUS who has no business in that job. (Just look at today's, 091102, news. Karzai takes a fraudulent election in Afghanistan and Obama is going to call him and congratulate him and assure him there will be no troop build up.)
