SMA Preston: The same guy that is OK with not being able to pass an APFT at anytime during the NCOES, reducing a pretty intense 4 week PLDC to a 2 week online course, etc. etc.

THEN he has the nerve to say teach them up? Roger that SMA!

Some of us are still not willing to face it but E-5 is the new Specialist rank. Its damn near an automatic promotion and you dont need much knowledge to get there. As long as you have a buddy somewhere up the support channel. Just last night a soldier in another platoon said his peer who was promoted thanks to a fuged PT test was willing to do a statement for this E-3 who got flagged for 2 weeks so he would not be promoted to E-4. It all has to do with who likes you. E-3 has almost 4 years TIS and the E-4 who couldnt pass a PT test.... just under 2 years.

So file an I.G. complaint if you think something unethical or illegal is going on.

Been saying this for the past 5 yrs. IMO everything just shifted. E5 is what E4 used to be, E6-what E5 used to be, E7=E6 and so on and so forth. And the fudgery and all about who likes you goes on more than some would like to admit.

The sworn statement is for an official IG inquiry, He talked to his EO rep the day before he told me this. I told him to take it straight to IG but doing it this way at least he has a good NCO from within the unit to help him out and provide guidance.
