Default ACU s

The Army needs to get rid of the velcro on the ACU or what ever uniform it decides to use. I hope they have the sense to go to the same uniform the marine corp uses. I remember a time when all the servises used the same uniform. So what is wrong with that. e can distinguish ourselves by the name tapes sewn on the uniform. Key word is sewn. Velcro on the uniform is about as usefull as blanks on the battle field . It's just plain dumb.

This topic is almost like beating a dead horse. They say we're getting the multicam in the next 4 years or so but its not soon enough and it is still laden with velcro. I think some one higher up has forgotten that we perform combat operations on a daily basis not just sit in offices viewing uniform patterns and accessories for approval. No number on a computer screen is representative of whet we as soldiers do and put our gear through. The velcro out in the dessert has a life span of maybe two months. The material rips so easy. I understand its hot and its arid. However, we pushed into baghdad and then some wearing DCU ripstop without velcro. In tough combat conditions I did not need new uniforms for at least 6 months and then only got 2. the others lasted me an entire 12 months. I heard the velcro patches were to help soldiers not spend so much money on sew on patches for every PCS. If this is the case then some one got their math all wrong. I am spending more money every time I loose patches while doffing my IOTV or working in areas with a lot of netting. During training we have to remove patches so as to not give each other road rash from the backside of the velcro.
As I said this subject is a dead horse and no one who matters really cares enough to change it. Its still fun to voice on it tho.

The horse is more than dead. You're beating the ground it decayed on with a branch taken from the tree that grew using its corpse as fertilizer.

And there already exist dozens of these threads, go there.

The velcro is just fine. 99% of those that don't like it because it's "too loud" and "could give away your position" will never engage an enemy combatant anyway. LOL Bunch of wimpy little baby persons. IMHO.

Amen the guys who have to worry about being loud and sneaking up on the enemy dont wear ACU's. Like the HUMVEE column your riding in wont give you away to the enemy.

Colin, have you ever worn the ACU?!? Hell, are you even in the Army? It sounds like you just cut and pasted from a press release from GEN Casey's office.

Have you saved money from all the patches that have come off from everything from jumping out of a C-17 to the ruck pulling them off? What about all the care given the crap black badges? You know what would solve this? Sew on! Or how about the stolen coats from the barracks because some idiot said we should have velcro nametapes?

Now we'll talk about the pattern. Have you been following the stories about the superiority of Multi cam and how the Army completely ignored the results?

That's right, you work for either GEN Casey or SMA Preston so the ACU (and I suspect the ASU) make perfect sense to you.
