Airman Hill: Murder trial

Airman Calvin Eugene Hill, 21, of Warren, Ohio, faces a murder trial, amongst other charges, in the death of Airman 1st Class Ashley Turner. Both were stationed in Iceland. From the article --


Airman Calvin Eugene Hill, 21, of Warren, Ohio, is charged with premeditated murder, false statements, absence without leave, larceny and obstruction of justice. The Air Force alleges that Hill beat and stabbed Turner on Aug. 14, 2005, to conceal a string of thefts.

They say he stole about $2,800 from her, got caught, lied about the thefts to investigators and murdered Turner to silence her pending testimony at a Keflavik court-martial.

For both Hill and Ashley Turner, the 56th Rescue Squadron was their first unit, and Keflavik their first deployment.

According to prosecutors and the Turner family, it began with a small loan.

Hill asked to borrow $60 one day, they say, and peered over Turner’s shoulder when she withdrew the cash from an ATM.

Then money started to vanish. There were withdrawals she didn’t make. Missing funds ultimately adding up to nearly $3,000.

That led to Hill’s first court-martial, set to take place in late 2005. He was accused of using Turner’s debit card — and PIN — to deplete her account over several weeks. (Those proceedings are now folded into Hill’s murder trial.)

she was kille din Jan 06 and her killer is being brought to justice in April 07?

seems like a long time.

what was the air force thinking--housing the accused and the victim in the same house area--Bad leadership in that decision

His lies have done nothing but hurt her family and friends. not only did he distroy her family but everyone that was close to Ashely as well. My heart goes out to the Turner family. And everyone that was close to such a sweet and cheerful young women.

She was killer August 14 2005, and it is taking this long to go to trial.....

hum.. i wonder why that is? according to the articl ein estripes it looked liek they knew it was him even in Jan 2006.

Prosecutors trying Airman Calvin Hill for murder unveiled one of their most damning witnesses yet Wednesday: a discharged Army soldier who testified that Hill confessed to killing Airman 1st Class Ashley Turner.

Cyrus Hughes, 20, told jurors that Hill admitted to stabbing a girl in the neck, beating her head with a weight and dragging her up a flight of stairs.
