Post War films AWOL on Top 100 list

Noticeably absent from AFI's new Top 100 movies are war-centric films. We found that to be absurd and created our list of Top 10 movies that should have been included, but weren't. If they don't replace any of the 100, perhaps the list should be renamed to the Top 110.

Which battle movies make your Top 10? Do they match ours or do you have a whole new group of forgotten flicks? Our list comes out next week. Tell us your picks and we'll compare next week!

My list of top 10 films would include two war films, Patton and Breaker Morant.

Just missing the top 10 would be Dr. Strangelove and Saving Private Ryan.

TOP GUN???!!!!! I think Military Tmes has had a don't ask, don't tell moment. You picked Top Gun and Saving Private Ryan isn't anywhere on the list?!!! The rest of the list I don't have any beef with, although I think there are much better films than Black Hawk Down, Great Escape and Dirty Dozen. How about the two best Navy movies: They Were Expendable and In Harm's Way. And one of my favorites is The Boys from Company C. Those would have looked better on your list than the others.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks Top Gun is a stinking pile of dog doo.

Where the heck is "The Final Countdown" with Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen...that was the movie responsible for getting me to join the Navy and, focusing me on getting an aircraft carrier

Gardens of Stone, with James Caan and James Earl Jones as a couple of crusty Infantry NCOs (1SG and SGM, respectively) in the 3rd Infantry Regiment during the Vietnam War. As far as conveying the spirit and pride of being a Soldier in the combat arms, this film does it in spades with only ONE war scene in the whole thing. Otherwise, it takes place entirely in CONUS.

"In Harm's Way" with John Wayne and Kirk Douglas......It is a prime example of the Navy at its best

BTW -- All Quiet on the Western Front, Paths of Glory, and Bridge on the River Kwai -- listed in your Wartime Duty Roster -- are war movies, but they are not American war movies.

Where's Kelly's Heroes?

Top Gun had it's place, but it hasn't aged well. Replace that with We Were Soldiers.

(And for God's sake, get Three Kings off the AFI list. What a pile of crap that was.)
