here is the box:

here are the white chocolate dipped and green chocolate drizzled shamrock sugar cookies:

and then the dog wanted to help...

so i told him he could put the leprechaun in the box:

but then he didn't want to give it up...

and of course we need green EVERYTHING... loofa, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, purell, monster drinks. mug and cooler, green irish potato candy (don't ask), slimjims that i paper-machetted (sp?) the box green...

as if you expected anything less from me?! i hope he likes it... apparently care packages for P have now become a "unit event" because i keep sending stuff for the rest of his guys too. LOL

and besides, its HIS patron saint... i was thinking for hours about how to send him creme puffs for st. joseph's day (since we went to st. joe's school together) and for some reason St. J's is a really big thing in italian families... but alas... he's only getting chocolate covered shamrocks this year.

Shiaaattttt.... I'm excited and I'm not even the recipient!!!!

P - no doubt - will love this (as he has w/ your other care packages)!!!!

You put so much care and thought into your packages - if I weren't a chick and into BBM, I'd totally be knockn' at your door..... It looks like you had a lot of fun baking/putting together the box-o-fun....which will surely resonate to P....

And I LOVE your puppy w/ the leprechaun in mouth heheheheheehhehee....precious

Thanks so much for sharing, Sweet! It gives me something to aspire to --- will also be experimenting with dry goods to be sent over there that he can prep himself (we do a lot of cooking and have already amassed various goodies that are ready to go)....a part from our dorky fun stuffs (e.g. cycling magazine, rock climbing magazines).... Some dried goods, for example cous cous, exotic spices/herbs (pre-packaged), found some freeze dried tofu and asian condiments/oils/variety of dried mushrooms/seaweed/shrimps even down to Ramen noodle spice packets or from other noodles, sauce packets (that have been collected these past months), various dry mixes w/ dried egg powder and milk powder experiments for baked goods - since he may be taking one of his Whisper Lights (unlike most campers - I'm kinda fu fu... most will eat SOS, us, I love making french toast, or fresh berry pancakes - my outdoors kitchen is a mini arsenal). babble babble

And it's very thoughtful of you to provide goodies for his unit! LOL, BBM's platoon now has two tubs of icing...which, I told him it would taste great on those dreadful MRE crackers (e.g. alike Nutella).

I noticed the baggies looked sealed - are those the new Glad vacuum ones? I'm curious as I saw them at the store recently but wasn't sure if it were actually useful (vs one of those 80s infomercial sealers). In addition to putting the heavier items at the bottom, and extra papering w/in, how do you keep the cookies from being crushed? Or do you put more paper-age (my made up word) on top before the lid is secured on? FUN FUN FUN stuffs! It would seem that the cupcakes I sent were very moist (too moist) and the fluffed out bags of air crushed them en route (then again, they went back and forth across the states twice)

aww thanks blk! LOL @ "i'm excited and i'm not even the recipient"

and yeah... danny (my dog) missed the memo explaining to him that he is in fact... a dog. if he seems me doing something, he automatically thinks he has to.... or should be able and allowed to do it too. one time, i left the bathroom door open a bit when i had gone in to take a shower and there i am shampooing my hair... and the dog sticks his nose around the edge of the shower curtain and before i could react, he hopped in the shower with me! it was fairly easy to get him out tho... apparently he didn't realize the shower made you get wet...

This is the US post office store site. I just got the link from a friend. Starting tomorrow, the post office will sell boxes that can be mailed for $2.00 less than your own of the same size. I know this is going to sound like spam, but ~~ check it out.
