New sniper rifle is quicker, quieter
The new M110 is semi-automatic, eliminating the time lag of the bolt-action rifle. The special sound suppressor that slides over the muzzle of the M110 makes the sound much quieter than the sharp crack of the Army's 7.62mm M24 Sniper Rifle. Army will field M110 in November, new grenade launcher and shotgun in 2008.
