Snoop Dogg among headliners at Pendleton show

OCEANSIDE, Calif. —If you’re in Southern California, you can capture a bit of rock, country, rap and dance music at a free concert Thursday night at the beach under the stars.

The concert will include performances by Snoop Dogg, Clint Black, Jessica Simpson, Ne-Yo and Janet Jackson, Camp Pendleton officials announced Wednesday. It is open only to Marines and other service members and families with Defense Department identification, officials said.

Base officials are expecting a crowd of 35,000 to 40,000 to pack Del Mar Beach for the evening concert, said spokesman 2nd Lt. Ken Kunze.

Gates open at 4 p.m. for the “America: United in Support of Our Troops” concert, which begins at 7 p.m. and is expected to run three hours.

Other performances include ZZ Top, Blind Melon and Girlicious. The concert is sponsored by Marine Corps Community Services.
