HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A memorial proposed for Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan would honor Marines killed in Iraq.
Fundraisers for the memorial honoring those from the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, were planned for June and July.
Those to be honored at the memorial include Marine Pfc. Tarryl Hill of nearby Shelby Township. He died in 2007 when his vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device in Al Anbar province.
The base is located about 25 miles northeast of Detroit.
