Soldier accused of assaulting teen faces trial

OMAHA, Neb. — A 30-year-old soldier accused of sexually attacking a 13-year-old girl in an Omaha hotel bathroom has been ordered to stand trial.
Kevin Siegmann waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday. A trial date hasn’t been set. He remains free on bond.
Siegmann says he’s based with the U.S. Army in Germany and came to Omaha on leave. He was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child.
Authorities say Siegmann met the girl and her friend last month at an Internet cafe in a west Omaha hotel. They went to the third floor, where they drank some beer.
Police say that after the girls left, Siegmann found the 13-year-old on the main floor, then attacked her in a women’s restroom.
He was arrested later that day.
