An Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed Wednesday at 6:20 p.m. local time in the woods northeast of Mannheim, Germany.
The Army is investigating the crash, which happened near highway A67, but could not yet confirm any casualties, Army spokesman Col. Brian Hilferty told Army Times. Local police referred all questions to U.S. European Command.
The Associated Press reported that German police confirmed two deaths and that a third crew member is missing.
There is no indication yet what caused the crash.
A Black Hawk crashed in August near Mount Massive in Colorado, killing all four soldiers aboard. The Army said human error caused that crash because the crew attempted a landing at an altitude beyond the UH-60’s performance limits.
