Service members and military spouses can score free tickets to The Players Championship in May, while veterans can purchase discounted tickets for the tournament, held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Tournament officials gave out more than 30,000 complimentary tickets last year, according to the event's website. Active-duty, National Guard and reserve members are eligible.

Veterans can purchase two tickets per day at a discounted rate -- $15 for practice rounds, $25 for tournament rounds.

Both current and former service members must complete an online verification process to obtain a ticket voucher, then bring the voucher and appropriate military ID to the venue to claim their tickets.

The tournament at Sawgrass, and its signature island green on the 17th hole, regularly features nearly all of the PGA Tour's top players. Jason Day won last year's event and pocketed a $1.89 million purse.

Service members, veterans, spouses and dependents also will have access to Patriots' Outpost, a hospitality tent sponsored by Birdies for the Brave that will offer free food and drinks. Other events include a Military Appreciation Day on May 9, a free job fair for current and former service members and their spouses, and a club fitting for combat-injured veterans courtesy of Birdies for the Brave and Callaway Golf, which includes a free custom set of golf clubs.
