What: Coming this summer, this solid-copper slug with polymer tip should be an excellent deer-hunting round. The slug is encased in a high-density plastic sabot and is designed to open up into some wicked petals, somewhat similar to the hugely popular Barnes Expander muzzleloader rounds. From experience, deer hit well with these types of slugs go down quickly.
Note: Shells are 2.75 inches long, five to a box. The 12-gauge version weighs an ounce; 20-gauge weighs three-quarters of an ounce.

What: The XD in this new Browning turkey hunting load stands for "extra distance." A new aerodynamically stabilized wad helps achieve tighter patterns downrange. The lead shot is nickel plated with plastic resin buffering. The 12-gauge, 3-inch loads have 1 5/8 ounces of shot, while the magnum 3.5-inch loads have 1 7/8 ounces. Shot size ranges from 4 to 6. The single 20-gauge offering is a 3-inch shell with 1 1/4 ounces of No. 5 shot. Ten to a box.
Note: All shells deliver 1,200 feet per second performance at the muzzle.
