How other diets measure up
Following a daily caloric ratio of 40 percent carbohydrates, 30 percent protein and 30 percent fat, while avoiding foods with a high glycemic index — a rating given based upon the effect foods have on insulin levels in the blood — leads to weight loss.
The pros
No calorie counting.
Discourages refined sugars.
Encourages exercise along with healthy eating.
The cons
Not vegetarian friendly.
Finding “hidden sugars” can be time-consuming.
