Among the nearly 350 national and international charities that have been added to the Combined Federal Campaign this year, more than a dozen focus on federal employees and their families. Many of the new charities offer support to military service members. Others provide assistance to federal law enforcement officers and employees in general. Here’s a rundown of the new charities, including the CFC codes used for designating donations. The annual fundraiser runs through Dec. 15.
Air Compassion for Wounded Warriors (99118). This is the largest program in the nation providing free medically related air transportation to combat injured veterans and their adversely affected family members.
Armed Forces Aid Campaign (51484). This group provides financial aid, long-term support and emergency assistance to service members wounded in battle, military families, veterans, retirees and deployed troops.
Blacks in Government (10790). The organization provides advocacy, education, training, and legal and financial support on behalf of all federal employees, with the goal of promoting equity and equal opportunity in the workplace.
BlueRibbon Coalition (11402). This grassroots-based, national recreation advocacy group champions the responsible use of public lands and waters and encourages individual environmental stewardship. å Bowlers to Veterans Link (93325). This group helps boost the morale of active-duty service members and veterans by providing them with recreational activities and other entertainment.
Comfort for America’s Uniformed Services (33011). This organization provides entertainment and recreation programs to wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and those undergoing long recuperations at military medical centers.
Disabled Veterans’ LIFE Memorial Foundation (13490). Donations to this charity support creation of the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, which will be built in Washington to pay tribute to veterans who were permanently disabled as a result of their service.
Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation (54726). This fund provides emergency financial assistance and scholarships to federal law enforcement agents and their families. å Marine Graduation Foundation (92068). This charity helps financially challenged families attend graduation ceremonies for Marine Corps members who are graduating from boot camp and beginning their military careers.
Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation (77273). This fund provides military families with down payments for first homes and low-cost alternatives to cash advances.
Soldiers’ Angels (25131). This grassroots volunteer network provides various support services to deployed military personnel, veterans and family members. å Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation (37190). This nonprofit organization provides financial support to service members who have been seriously injured while removing improvised explosive devices.
