TOMBSTONE, Ariz. — A Tombstone native has been identified as one of five civilians killed along with a crew of six in the crash of an Air Force transport in Afghanistan.

Rep. Martha McSally's office announced Monday that Carlos Carrasco was on board the C-130J that crashed after takeoff from Jalalabad air field on Oct. 1.

Carrasco was raised in Tombstone and graduated from Tombstone High School in 2006. McSally's office says he worked as a contractor for Northrop Grumman in Sierra Vista and was in Afghanistan as an unmanned aerial vehicle mechanic and technician.

Northrop vice president Brandon Belote confirmed the death and offered sympathies to Carrasco's family.

McSally also extended her condolences to Carrasco's family.

The Air Force has identified the six airmen killed in the crash but not the civilians.
