MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has ordered armed National Guardsmen to be stationed at military recruitment centers.

Bentley's spokeswoman Jennifer Ardis said in an email that the governor met with National Guard leadership on Monday. Ardis says specific details of the plan won't be released because of potential security risks.

Bentley's decision comes after four military personnel were killed July 16 when a man opened fire at two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before being killed by police.

Armed civilians stood guard outside recruiting centers in several states after the shooting. Military directives ban firearms from recruitment facilities.
