Mil Muscle columnist Bob Thomas focused this week on a joint that causes a lot of us pain and worry: our knees.

A meniscus tear can result from a single dynamic rotation of the knee or a lifetime of accumulated wear.

Retired Army Brig. Gen. Bob Gaylord has torn one in each knee, the first in 2003 and the second while trying to run through a series of other injuries several years later. Both injuries required surgery, but the now-63-year-old ultrarunner powered through, running within a month and competing within three months of the first surgery.

And PT365 model Bob Gaylord? He ran his 9th 100-miler this year.
