23, of Augusta, Ga.; assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Dec. 15, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Balad, Iraq.
