29, of Las Vegas; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La.; killed July 16 at Larzab Base, Afghanistan, when his platoon encountered enemy forces small-arms fire during combat operations.
