Texas soldier dies in Iraq

SAN ANTONIO — A soldier from Texas has died in Iraq, the Defense Department announced Thursday.

Pfc. Nickolas A. Tanton, 24, of San Antonio, died Tuesday in Kirkuk from non-combat related injuries. The incident is under investigation, officials said.

Tanton was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
