North Florida soldier dies in Iraq

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — A soldier who went to high school in North Florida has been killed in Iraq from what the Army says were non-combat-related injuries.

The Army says 26-year-old Spc. Quincy Green died Monday in Tikrit, Iraq. His father, Jimmie Green, said his son died from sniper fire and declined to comment on the Army report.

An Army spokeswoman says Quincy Green’s death is under investigation.

Green is a graduate of Orange Park High School in a Jacksonville suburb.

He was based at Fort Riley, Kan., which has lost 150 soldiers and airmen in Iraq.

He is also survived by his wife and children.
