Since the start of 2019, a group of almost 50 Air Force Reserve members have been busy imagining what the Air Force Reserve will look like in 15 years.
The Remove the Stain Act was introduced Tuesday by US. Reps. Denny Heck (D-Washington), Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico), and Paul Cook (R-California). It was named for the U.S. military’s massacre of more than 200 Lakota Indians, confined to a camp near Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota, on Dec. 29, 1890.
Shannon Irhke served as an Administrative Specialist in the Corps and after years of hard work she obtained the rank of sergeant. She says that although it can be hard being a female Marine she still loved it.
As celebrations take place in France and around America honoring the men and women who took part in that mission on its 75th anniversary, there are fewer and fewer who remember it firsthand. Grapes, 98 and living in Houma, Louisiana, is one of five American D-Day survivors to share those recollections with Military Times.
